Bon Secours, UnitedHealthCare Dispute Could Leave 30,000 Patients Out of Network

Patients with UnitedHealthcare might find themselves outside the Bon Secours St. Francis network soon. As of June 6, UHC announced it was in active negotiations with Bon Secours. The health insurer contends that Bon Secours St. Francis is pursuing prices for its commercial plans that are either unaffordable or unsustainable for both consumers and employers.

However, in a response dated June 9, Bon Secours St. Francis described this claim as misleading. They stated that their proposals address the very low interest rates they have accepted while also confronting rising inflation costs. If no agreement is reached, patients may be affected when Bon Secours St. Francis facilities become out of network starting July 1.

This situation has the potential to impact around 30,000 patients in the Greenville area.
