The top four college softball players still available in the transfer portal

The last couple of weeks have been quite eventful in the university softball transfer portal.

Several standout players from the team that participated in the Women’s College World Series have announced their plans to transfer. A few have already found their new home in Lubbock, Texas, joining the Texas Institute of Technology Red Raiders, who seem keen on making a return to Oklahoma City next season.

But the changes aren’t over yet. Plenty of skilled players are still considering their options for the upcoming season, while various teams continue to explore the portal in hopes of filling gaps and enhancing their rosters. According to the latest rankings from ON3, eight of the top ten players have already signed with new teams.

Here are some of the top players still available in the softball transfer portal:

Dakota Kennedy – Arizona Outfielder

Kennedy has been a three-year starter for the Wildcats and is recognized as a national talent this season, along with also being an all-Big 12 selection. Despite missing 17 games last year due to a broken hand, she managed to achieve a .444 batting average over 44 games. She recorded 60 hits, 10 doubles, and 25 RBIs, finishing with an OPS of 1.228. This left fielder from California could fit seamlessly into any lineup.

Maya Johnson – Pitcher, Belmont

One of the most impressive players still available in the transfer portal is Johnson. This left-handed junior excelled in multiple statistical categories among Division I pitchers this season, leading in strikeouts (366), strikeout-to-walk ratio (16.64), and shutouts (11). Her strikeouts per inning was an impressive 12.4. With a ranking of 1.52 in the nation, Johnson has a year of eligibility left and could easily become the ace of a team aiming for postseason success.

Addison Amaral – Shortstop, Notre Dame

A two-time All-ACC selection, the 5-foot-9 right-handed sophomore made significant contributions to the Fighting Irish this season. She topped the team in batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage. With a total of 111 hits and 195 total bases in 105 games, she holds a career batting average of .352 and still has two years of eligibility left at a new program.

Elon Butler – Utility, Cal

Butler is known for her versatility, excelling in both second base and right field for the Golden Bears. Entering the portal with one year of eligibility remaining, she led her team in walks and stolen bases this season, finishing second in batting average (.361) and runs scored (46). She accumulated 60 hits and 100 total bases, along with 37 career home runs and a slugging percentage of .621.
