‘16 and Pregnant’ star Whitney Purvis turned away from son Weston's funeral for arriving late

Reports indicate that Whitney Purvis, known from “16 and Pregnant,” faced rejection upon arriving late to her son Weston’s funeral, only to discover she wasn’t on the guest list.

Weston, her eldest son, tragically passed away at 16 on June 2nd in Gordon County, Georgia. The cause of his death is currently unknown.

Two weeks after confirming his passing, Purvis arrived at the funeral around 4 PM, but was turned away since the ceremony had concluded two hours earlier, and her name wasn’t listed as a guest, according to reports.

Sources suggest that the mix-up stemmed from her ex-husband, Weston Lewis Gosa, though he denies this claim. Gosa insists he notified Purvis of the correct start time and mentioned that he arrived at the chapel at 4:15 PM, only to find the doors were locked.

Close associates say that when Purvis arrived, Gosa’s claims indicate the service had already ended, and there were reports of Purvis’s family being denied entry as well.

Gosa asserts he informed Purvis that viewing began at 2 PM, with the service starting sharply at 4 PM. He reached out to her a week prior to remind her about the strict guest list, alleging her relatives were present when they arrived at 3 PM.

After 5 PM, Gosa reportedly received a message from Purvis expressing her anger, calling him “evil” for preventing her access to the service.

In response, he claimed to have shared a photo that showed her name was, in fact, not on the list.

The ceremony was held privately, considering the sensitive nature of this tragic event.

Gosa, along with his wife Amy, arranged for a separate urn to help Purvis keep some of her son’s ashes.

Purvis recently shared the heartbreaking news of Weston’s death on social media, expressing, “This is very difficult to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was 16. Life is so cruel and unfair. I don’t understand.” She continued, “Yeah, my baby is gone, and I don’t know what to do for myself. He was so perfect. This really made my worst nightmare come true.”

Whitney gave birth to Weston with Gosa during the first season of “16 and Pregnant” in April 2009, followed by another child, River, in 2014. However, the couple separated soon after.

In 2024, Purvis lost custody of her children following an arrest related to unpaid child support.

Gosa has also faced several legal issues, including driving with a suspended license and being arrested for vandalism.
