Trump marks $100K personal effort of installing two flagpoles at the White House

WASHINGTON – President Trump announced the installation of two large flagpoles at the White House on Wednesday, a venture he’s personally financing to the tune of $100,000.

One flagpole will be placed on the north lawn and the other on the south lawn, with each estimated to cost about $50,000. Trump explained that they represent a project he’s thought about for years, rooted in the historical significance of the White House.

“The White House opened around 1800, and there weren’t many structures before that. I’ve always wondered, why not have flagpoles on the grass?” he stated.

Trump first revealed plans for a 100-foot flagpole back in April, alongside other endeavors like the Rose Garden renovations and enhancements to the Oval Office, which aim to elevate its luxury.

This construction has piqued his interest, as he often pictures how he wants to reshape the iconic residence.

“It’s only thrilling if you’re overseeing construction,” he remarked while observing the work. “You have to make it perfectly straight. Once it’s just right, they’ll pour sand and it will last for a century.”

Aside from overseeing the flagpole project, Trump has also engaged with the landscaping team involved in the renovations.

He has been seen multiple times in recent weeks interacting with the workers, expressing his admiration for them. “I don’t know them, but I really like them. They must have voted for me,” he joked on Monday.

“I need to get these guys back to work; they’re earning a good amount,” he laughed, adding a quirky note about the group potentially drawing attention from film producers, saying, “Someone’s bound to say, ‘That guy could be perfect for a movie.’
