Jaire Alexander joins Ravens after parting ways with Packers

Jayley Alexander has found a new team, joining the Baltimore Ravens after his stint with the Green Bay Packers.

The Ravens made the announcement on Wednesday, reuniting him with his former college quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

At 28 years old, Alexander signed a one-year contract that could be worth up to $6 million, opting for this opportunity even though he turned down better offers to play alongside Jackson.

The Ravens shared a video capturing the moment they welcomed him. In the clip, Alexander and Jackson embraced warmly before Jackson encouraged him to leave his mark on the wall as a “new addition.”

“My boy, let’s do it,” Alexander said after they hugged.

This signing appears to have Jackson’s full backing. He emphasized bringing Alexander on board, noting they played together from 2015 to 2017 before Alexander was picked in the first round of the 2018 draft.

The Ravens also highlighted a previous video showing Alexander celebrating after Baltimore selected Jackson in that same draft.

Jackson has remained with the Ravens since he was drafted, while Alexander recently parted ways with the Packers following a challenging season filled with injuries.

“Get Eric,” he added, referring to the Ravens’ general manager, Eric DeCosta. “I appreciate every corner, just so you know.”

If Alexander can maintain his health, he could significantly strengthen the Ravens’ secondary.

Unfortunately, he has struggled with injuries in recent years, playing seven games or fewer in three of the last four seasons, including two seasons capped at seven games each.

Last year saw him battling through various injuries before his season ended early. The Packers released him earlier this month, leaving the door open for other opportunities.

Ultimately, Alexander found Baltimore more appealing.

“Yo-yo, this is jerle here, I’m excited to be part of the Ravens herd, baby,” he expressed in a team video. “Let’s get this money.”

The Ravens made it to the divisional round of the playoffs last season but were defeated by the Bills.

Now they are focused on making a push for the Super Bowl, with Jackson leading the charge as they prepare to open the season against Buffalo on September 7.

“We bounce back, and when we return, it feels like we’re out for revenge in our minds,” Jackson said.
