Jasmine Crockett Critiques Trump and His Supporters
Jasmine Crockett, a Texas Democrat, has stirred strong reactions from supporters of President Donald Trump, just as he calls for bipartisan efforts against him.
In response to various journalists regarding the Los Angeles riots and Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard and US Marines, she expressed her dissatisfaction. She mentioned a troubling sense of disillusionment growing up thinking America was an ideal place, only to encounter a president she views as criminal. “He not only has a conviction; he continually breaks the law, ignores court orders, and violates the constitution, all while seeking retaliation,” Crockett explained.
“The notion of disregarding the welfare of our service members—it’s disturbing,” she added. “It’s genuinely sick. Anyone who supports this is sick.”
Crockett connected her opposition to Trump with what she perceives as a broader “mental health crisis” in the country, emphasizing that opposing him isn’t merely a partisan issue for her. “We really need to oppose Trump—it shouldn’t be about party lines,” she stated, citing concerns over how some people enable his behavior.
She shared her sympathy for service members who enlisted to protect democracy and are now facing a commander-in-chief who contradicts those very values. “It hurts to see; how far does he need to go before we all say ‘enough’? This shouldn’t be about political allegiance,” she lamented.
Despite the criticism, Trump enjoys an 89% approval rating among Republicans, according to a recent NBC News Poll conducted through Surveymonkey.
In a prior interview with “Lone Star Politics,” Crockett admitted that resisting Trump took precedence over passing new legislation. She has made headlines for controversial remarks, including calling Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels.”
The representative is now campaigning to become the next ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, promising to investigate Trump if she assumes the chair. In a June 1 interview, she clarified that she has no plans to run for president.
