Shooting Incident in Minnesota Leaves Political Figures Injured
Over the weekend, on June 14th, protests against the King’s reign erupted across the nation. At the same time, a shooting in Minnesota injured Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, as well as Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.
The alleged shooter, Vance Luther Boerter, was identified by Blaze Media’s Julio Rosas. Boerter reportedly posed as a police officer during the attack and is facing multiple charges, including two counts related to stalking and two for using firearms in the commission of a crime. He also faces four felony charges at the state level, including two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Interestingly, even as a week has passed, Boerter’s exact motives remain unclear. He had previously been appointed to the Minnesota Governor’s Workforce Development Committee by two governors: first by Mark Dayton in 2016 and again by Tim Walz in 2019. The shooting coincided with the No Kings Day, a notably leftist protest against perceived authoritarianism during the Trump administration. However, it’s noteworthy that no flyers related to the protests were found in his vehicle.
On the surface, Boerter may seem aligned with Democratic values, yet he is accused of specifically targeting Democratic representatives. Reports suggest that a list of Democrat officials was discovered in his vehicle. Moreover, Boerter was known for being staunchly opposed to abortion.
Liz Wheeler commented, “People on the right and left want to categorize these shooters.” For her, it’s often a matter of perspective: the right blames Democrats, while the left points fingers at Trump supporters. To delve further into the complexities surrounding Boerter, she invited Blaze News editor Rob Eno to discuss the case.
Eno revealed that Boerter once lived in a house rented from a 57-year-old man and also mentioned his job at 7-Eleven. His friend David Carlson remarked that Boerter was a “hardcore Trump supporter,” but Eno noted there isn’t any video evidence to confirm this claim.
Wheeler raised an intriguing point regarding a “manifesto” that was reportedly found in Boerter’s vehicle but has yet to be released. She remarked, “The manifesto hasn’t been made public, which seems curious, especially if it were an ideological leftist who committed the violence.”
While Eno expressed uncertainty about Boerter’s motivations, he pondered whether his actions may have been misguided efforts to “save a child.” However, this creates a contradiction: Boerter was appointed by Governor Tim Walz, but if he was indeed a secret Republican targeting Democrats for their policies, it raises questions about why he specifically targeted someone like Melissa Hortman, who recently voted against using taxpayer funds for illegal immigrants.
Wheeler suggested that Boerter seems more like a “disgruntled Democrat,” indicating that he doesn’t quite fit neatly into the right or left categories.
