LA Dodgers prevent ICE agents from entering stadium following efforts to urge team to denounce deportations

The Los Angeles Dodgers released a statement indicating they denied parking access to ICE agents after facing calls to oppose deportations.

Online influencers and some media outlets initiated a pressure campaign when they noticed the team hadn’t made any comments regarding ICE actions following recent riots in Los Angeles.

“Since this organization is closely tied to the community, why are they now silent?”

On Thursday, local reports noted that ICE agents were present at the stadium, prompting small protests against them. Some speculated that the Dodgers might be collaborating with federal authorities on deportations.

KABC-TV recorded footage of numerous masked federal agents near Gate E.

The team reacted swiftly via social media, stating, “This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium requesting access to the parking lot,” and added, “They were denied entry by the organization. Tonight’s game is on schedule.”

A statement was also issued in Spanish.

“With 40% of Dodgers fans identifying as Latino, the team’s silence is glaring as protests against ICE escalate in the city. There are murmurs of boycotts,” reported Sam Stein from MSNBC.

“The Dodgers have a dedicated fanbase that includes many young Chicanos. It’s confusing why they appear disconnected from these issues,” mentioned CNN journalist Nick Valencia.

This year, the Dodgers faced criticism from different sides when they planned to honor a controversial LGBTQ group during a game, which led to protests and a subsequent apology from the team.
