Authorities search home of Emmy-winning Detroit TV reporter in sexual harassment investigation

Investigation Into Detroit Reporter Following Misconduct Allegations

Authorities in Detroit conducted a search at the residence of an Emmy-winning journalist, who co-hosted a podcast with the wife of an NFL player, in connection with allegations of sexual misconduct.

Hank Winchester, an investigative reporter at WDIV Local 4 and host of the podcast “Helpmehank,” is reportedly married to Oakland County Circuit Judge Jacob Cunningham, and they have a young daughter together.

The search was carried out by Beverly Hills police in partnership with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, focusing on claims of inappropriate sexual advances made by Winchester during a massage session. Reports indicate that a search warrant was executed based on these allegations.

Winchester co-hosts the “Morning After” podcast with Kelly Stafford, who is married to Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. The podcast features high-profile guests from major media outlets like Access Hollywood and ESPN.

Before joining the Rams, Matthew Stafford played for the Detroit Lions for over a decade. Winchester has maintained a close relationship with the Stafford family, having expressed his sentiments when they moved to Los Angeles in 2021.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, WDIV Vice President Bob Ellis placed Winchester on administrative leave, indicating that an external inquiry is underway.

Winchester’s attorney, Todd Flood, expressed confidence that the investigation would not yield any significant findings. He emphasized that Winchester has dedicated years to serving the community and suggested that unfounded accusations can sometimes arise.

No formal charges have been filed, and the investigation continues at this stage.

This isn’t an isolated instance; other media figures have faced similar allegations recently. In April, a Virginia weatherman was arrested for allegedly filming a sex tape to coerce a victim, while a Louisiana TV anchor resigned after being caught in a sting operation targeting online predators.
