Historic Pan Am Journey Underway
A unique trip celebrating Pan American World Airways’ legacy has commenced, featuring a chartered jet adorned with the airline’s classic branding. The aircraft took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a 12-day journey with tickets priced around $60,000, as reported by CBS New York.
Dubbed “Pan Am Journey with Private Air,” the experience is part of a collaboration including Criterion Travel and Vertelling, with licenses from the now-defunct airline. Operators aim to recreate the “golden age” of travel, offering a meticulously planned itinerary during this special trip.
The journey includes stops at several iconic locations along Pan Am’s historical transatlantic routes, such as Bermuda, Lisbon, Marseille, London, and Ireland. A brochure for the “Tracing the Atlantic” trip promises luxurious services, high-end accommodations, and a touch of nostalgia, highlighting the iconic designs and branding of Pan Am.
The Boeing 757-200 Jet is equipped with Lie-Flat Business Class seats, emphasizing a comfortable travel experience. Pan Am’s brand shared on Facebook that all details—ranging from flight decks to cabin interiors—are thoughtfully designed to honor the era of glamorous air travel, while adapting to modern standards.
Flight attendants will don uniforms reminiscent of those worn by Pan Am staff during the airline’s operational days. Anna Maria Versdottir, one of the flight attendants, expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s such an honor and privilege to step into this uniform. We hope they can accept the grace that has shown America.”
This transatlantic experience was initially announced last summer, sparking interest among aviation enthusiasts and nostalgic travelers alike.
