Jordan Spieth breaks 297-event streak with first tournament withdrawal

Jordan Spieth Withdraws from Travelers Championship Due to Injury

In a surprising turn of events, Jordan Spieth has withdrawn from this week’s Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands, breaking his streak of 297 consecutive events played. The reason? A neck injury that caught him off guard.

“I’ve never withdrawn from an event before, so this is unfamiliar territory for me,” Spieth shared with reporters, clearly frustrated by the situation. “I’m doing everything right, and this feels just so random.” He mentioned that he thinks he may have slept in a strange position the night before, which led to pain during his practice shots.

Spieth’s standard warm-up routine was thrown off entirely. After leaving the practice range to get treatment, he found little relief. He decided to give it a try on the course, but with every swing, the discomfort grew. Ultimately, after playing just 12 holes, he realized pushing through wasn’t worth it. He was five over par at that point.

On hole 13, he teed off but exclaimed in pain, knowing then it was time to call it quits. “I really tried to see if I could make it through, but it just kept getting worse,” he explained.

At 31 years old, Spieth is a three-time major winner and has 13 PGA Tour victories. Although he’s had four top-10 finishes this season, he hasn’t secured a win since 2022. As of Thursday, he stood at 37th in the FedEx Cup standings.
