Investigators have taken action in a case involving a well-known Detroit TV reporter. Authorities searched the home of Hank Winchester, who is an Emmy award winner and co-hosts a podcast with the wife of an NFL player, over allegations of making unwanted sexual advances toward men during massage sessions.
Winchester, who works for WDIV Local 4 and hosts a show called Helpmehank, is married to Jacob Cunningham, a judge in Oakland County, and they have a young daughter together.
The Beverly Hills police, in conjunction with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at Winchester’s residence concerning the accusations of inappropriate behavior during massages.
Sources indicated to Fox 2 that Winchester had recently pursued studies in massage therapy. It’s unclear, however, if he was simply receiving massages or actually working in that capacity.
In addition to his reporting duties, Winchester co-hosts “The Morning After” podcast alongside Kelly Stafford, who is married to quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Rams. The podcast features high-profile guests, reflecting Winchester’s connections in the media world.
Before signing with the Rams, Matthew Stafford spent a decade playing for the Detroit Lions. Winchester has been friends with the Stafford family for years, even expressing his sentiments when they moved to Los Angeles in 2021.
Following the investigation’s announcement, WDIV’s Vice President Bob Ellis placed Winchester on administrative leave amid the ongoing inquiry.
Winchester’s attorney, Todd Flood, expressed confidence that the investigation would not yield substantial findings. He stated, “Hank has dedicated many years to serving our community and advocating for its residents. Given his reputable position, it’s possible he could face false accusations. I believe this investigation will conclude where it started.”
As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains active.
This isn’t the first time media personalities have encountered similar allegations recently. A Virginia weatherman was arrested in April for supposedly coercing a victim using a sex tape. Last year, a Louisiana anchor resigned after being caught in a sexting scandal involving someone impersonating a minor.
