Toddler Found Alive After Four-Day Search
A three-year-old girl was located safely, wandering along a highway in Canada, nearly 100 miles from her home after a frantic four-day search. Authorities uncovered that her mother had conducted several unsettling online searches, including options for a child’s urn and funeral arrangements.
Claire Bell was discovered on an Ontario highway Wednesday afternoon, approximately 90 miles from her hometown of Montreal, as stated by state police. She had been seen leaving her apartment in the Lazaru area of Montreal early Sunday morning with her mother, Rachel Todd, and their pet Chihuahua, according to reports from local news sources.
The mother reported Claire missing that same day near Coto Dulac, which is about 60 miles from where she vanished. Following the disappearance, an extensive search took place across Quebec and Ontario, driven by a sense of urgency and desperation.
Hundreds of police officers and volunteers participated in the search effort. Eventually, Claire was found alone on the side of Highway 417 in Ontario. However, the Chihuahua, who matched the description of the pet that was with Claire when she went missing, was found deceased near a souvenir shop where Todd had reported her daughter missing.
Authorities are actively seeking key witnesses—particularly individuals who live on farms in the Monteregie area or Ontario. These witnesses might have encountered the mother and child during that critical period. Meanwhile, Todd, 34, faced arrest and has been charged with child abandonment.
During the investigation, startling revelations emerged from Todd’s phone, where searches related to funeral arrangements were found. “This story really, really doesn’t look good,” commented a police insider involved in the case.
Todd’s court proceedings have been postponed until Friday, as the situation continues to unravel.
