Brewers’ Rookie Impresses with Stellar Performance
The Milwaukee Brewers clearly made a solid decision last week in calling up Jacob Misiorowski, a 23-year-old pitcher making waves in the MLB.
He made his debut on June 12, where, admittedly, things didn’t go as planned—he was pulled before managing to complete five innings. But, fast forward to Friday, and he achieved what many would consider an extraordinary feat on his second outing, winning his seventh perfect game.
Misiorowski recorded an impressive pitch speed of 103 mph, becoming the first modern starting pitcher since 1900 to kick off his career with 11 consecutive no-hit innings. After a walk to Byron Buxton, Matt Walner hit a home run, bringing an end to that streak.
Following that home run, Misiorowski was replaced by Nick Mears and left the field to an enthusiastic standing ovation. He threw a total of 86 pitches, landing 60 as strikes, concluding the game with an 8-2 lead for Milwaukee. The Brewers, however, later suffered a setback, with the Minnesota Twins winning 17-6.
“I think this is really how I envisioned it going,” the rookie said, excitement evident in his voice.
Reflecting on his performances, he mentioned, “Compared to my first outing, I felt much calmer and more prepared this time. The nerves were intense initially, so it’s really nice to finally feel grounded.”
The towering right-hander, standing at 6-foot-7, showcased a variety of pitches, including fastballs that peaked at 102.1 mph and a solid mix of sliders and changeups. He notably doubled the number of pitches thrown in his first debut.
According to statistics, Misiorowski stands out as the only player since 1900 to secure more wins than the hits allowed in his initial two career starts.
As the Brewers continue to navigate the season, they currently hold a record of 41-35, positioning them 4.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central standings.
