Florida Governor Signs Bill Prohibiting Weather Modification
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has enacted a new law that forbids altering the weather within the state.
This legislation, known as Senate Bill 56, was spearheaded by Republican Senator Ileana Garcia. It revokes previous provisions that allowed the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to authorize individuals or organizations to engage in weather manipulation.
“A lot of our senators hear frequent concerns regarding these condensation trails, often referred to as chemtrails,” Garcia mentioned earlier this year at a meeting of the Agriculture, Environment and Environmental Government Committee.
“There’s a considerable amount of skepticism around this, and my aim was to find a way to distinguish between facts and fiction.”
The newly signed bill renders weather modification or geoengineering illegal, with potential penalties including a third-degree felony charge, up to five years in prison, and fines reaching $100,000.
Moreover, the law mandates that environmental officials set up public platforms for reporting suspected weather modifications, granting them authority to investigate such claims.
The Florida Department of Transportation is also required to inform airports with access for planes that might be outfitted with technology for weather manipulation.
“Florida will not serve as a testing site for geoengineering. We have not allowed these practices thus far. I signed SB 56 to prevent any unapproved actions. The idea of freedom in Florida means protecting our residents from unwanted chemical applications or geoengineering projects imposed by either the government or private entities.”
This law is set to take effect on July 1st.
