U.S. Military Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

On Sunday morning, a press conference was held at the Pentagon with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses and Chairman General Din Dan “Razin” Kane to discuss a significant military action taken against Iran’s nuclear sites. The operation took place on President Trump’s orders, targeting three facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear program.

“It was a decisive and overwhelming success,” Hegses stated. “The direct orders we received were specific and we executed them effectively.” Trump also communicated the attack via a social media post on Saturday evening, detailing that U.S. B-2 stealth bombers were deployed for the strikes.

The President, addressing the nation later, alongside Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, claimed the nuclear facility was “eliminated” and emphasized the need for peace. “Iran must cease being a bully in the region. Otherwise, the consequences will be severe,” he warned.

Trump mentioned that five or six bunker-buster bombs targeted the Fordow site specifically. Reports indicated that Isfahan and similar facilities are underground, making precise targeting essential. A total of 30 Tomahawk missiles were launched at the Natanz and Isfahan facilities from U.S. submarines, according to Fox News.

Previously, Iran had been urged to agree to a nuclear program but withdrew from talks scheduled for June 15. This withdrawal came amid escalating tensions, leading to Israel’s preemptive strike on June 12, based on intelligence regarding Iran’s rapidly advancing nuclear capabilities.

Trump’s remarks painted a picture of a coordinated effort with Israel, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Netanyahu and emphasizing that this was a decisive step in mitigating threats to both Israel and the U.S. “Our combined efforts have significantly countered this long-standing threat,” he noted.

Some lawmakers commended Trump’s initiative, recognizing it as a crucial action against a nation perceived as a major sponsor of terrorism. Conversely, there were critiques concerning the lack of prior congressional approval for the military operation, which raised alarms about the potential for escalating conflict.

As of now, Iranian leaders, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have not publicly responded to the strikes. However, Foreign Minister Abbas Araguchi hinted at a bleak future for diplomacy following the attack and indicated plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, possibly in search of support.

With growing uncertainties in the region, the implications of this military action remain to be seen, stirring both cautious optimism and considerable concern for what lies ahead.
