NY Times criticized for attempting to fact-check Hegseth's admiration of 'our boys' piloting B-2 bombers

The U.S. has officially aligned itself with Israel in countering Iran, and the New York Times seemed poised to scrutinize Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s choice of words during a recent press conference.

During an event on Sunday, Hegseth commended President Trump for a military action that struck key nuclear facilities in Iran with six “bunkerbuster” bombs.

“The operation planned by President Trump is a bold move, highlighting that America’s deterrent capability has returned,” he remarked.

At one point, Hegseth casually referenced a B-2 pilot who had dropped 15 tons of bombs, referring to them as “the boys of those bombers.”

In a blog entry, NYT Pentagon journalist John Ismay noted, “Hegseth called the B-2 pilots ‘our boys of those bombers,’ but both men and women are trained to operate them.”

The post prompted a flurry of light-hearted comments on social media.

One user quipped, “This is why people use the New York Times to line their birdcages.”

Another added, “Yes, let’s ensure political correctness during such a serious time,” with a hint of sarcasm.

“What a fool. We women know exactly what Chief Hegseth meant,” commented another user.

It remains uncertain if this commenter was involved in the 37-hour B-2 bomber mission that departed from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
