Liz Flynt Discusses Hustler’s Legacy and Future Plans

Liz Flynt, the chairwoman of Hustler Magazine, is carrying on the legacy of her late husband, Larry Flynt, who passed away in 2021. In her new book, “Hustler®50: 50 Years of Freedom”, she reflects on the brand’s remarkable journey through decades of social and political change.

In an interview, Liz indicated that she is open to the idea of launching a subscription-based service similar to OnlyFans. However, due to the challenges of verifying age among performers, she confirmed that Hustler focuses on offering “high-quality content” instead of user-generated material.

While discussing the shifting landscape of adult entertainment, she acknowledged that many sex workers turned to platforms like OnlyFans during the pandemic when traditional venues faced closures. In fact, OnlyFans boasts impressive figures, with 130 million users and over $5 billion earned by creators in 2021.

“We’re still a monthly publication,” Liz mentioned, emphasizing the ongoing effort at Hustler to stay relevant and explore new technologies. She highlighted her husband’s earlier diversifications into various media in the ’90s, which set the stage for the company’s expansion today, including a growing number of Hustler Hollywood retail locations.

Liz revealed plans to open new stores and acquire existing ones as part of an overarching strategy to grow the brand. “We have several ideas in the pipeline, although we’re still brainstorming,” she asserted.

“We’re looking to innovate while staying true to our roots,” she said, recalling how Larry Flynt had once made bold moves to enhance the brand. Her leadership now carries that vision forward, with hopes for new ventures while maintaining the essence of Hustler.

Reflecting on her late husband’s influence, Liz noted his knack for provoking thought and challenging norms, which remains integral to the company’s identity. “Larry believed in the art of expressing freedom,” she asserted. “We’ve embraced that tradition.”

In casual moments, Liz recalled her fond memories of Larry, describing him as both generous and kind. “He definitely maintained a sense of humor, even through some tough times,” she mentioned. “He loved animals, and we always had pets around.” Their relationship seemed, in many ways, normal despite the unique circumstances surrounding them.

Overall, Liz Flynt’s aim is clear: to ensure the Hustler legacy remains impactful while adapting to the evolving world of adult entertainment. “This book is about more than just the past; it’s about what lies ahead,” she concluded.
