Israel Targets Iranian Regime Institutions
On Monday, Israel conducted strikes on critical sites tied to the Iranian regime, particularly focusing on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which the U.S. labels as a terrorist group due to its controversial role in the government.
Israeli Army Radio indicated that this time the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) diverged from their standard practice of issuing warnings prior to airstrikes. The intent was to maximize casualties among IRGC soldiers. Reports suggest that dozens may have been killed during the offensive.
The IDF commented on their operations, noting:
In a recent series of attacks, the IDF targeted various military command centers associated with the Iranian regime, including one known as the “Thar-Allah” command center, which is pivotal for safeguarding Tehran against various security threats.
Moreover, they hit the “Sayyed al-Shuhada” army, which operates under the IRGC and focuses on national defense and managing internal risks.
Additionally, the General Intelligence Bureau of Internal Security Forces was struck, which oversees personnel in the Internal Security Building and manages the organization’s informational and media functions.
The IDF remains committed to undermining the Iranian regime’s military capabilities to ensure Israel’s security.
Israel has also intensified its actions against Basij, a paramilitary group that acts as a form of political police. There were reports of Israeli forces attacking the entrance of the notorious Evin Prison, aiming to assist political prisoners and disrupt the regime’s hold.
In another symbolic gesture, Israel destroyed what’s referred to as the “Apocalypse Clock” in Tehran’s Palestinian Square, which was a countdown to the supposed downfall of the “Zionist regime,” allegedly set for 2040.
Israel has raised concerns with the United Nations regarding these symbols, suggesting they reflect the genocidal intentions of the Iranian government.
An analyst from Army Radio remarked that Israel’s goal might be to weaken the regime as the conflict progresses, potentially increasing the likelihood of political changes in the future.
In response, Iran launched a small missile barrage at Israel that morning; however, all projectiles were intercepted without reports of injuries. One Iranian missile did strike power plants in southern Israel, leading to brief electrical outages, while Israeli attacks on northern Tehran’s power plants caused disruptions in electricity supply.
Israel also targeted access roads to the Fordow nuclear facility, which had recently been bombed by the U.S. over the weekend. The full extent of damage resulting from those U.S. airstrikes is still being assessed.
