Public Opinion on Democrats’ Stance Toward Trump
The majority of respondents believe that Democrats should take a cautious approach regarding President Donald Trump’s actions. Specifically, 58% think Democrats ought to “wait and see” before deciding how to respond, while 42% advocate for outright opposition to everything Trump is doing.
When you break it down by party lines, the views shift. A significant number of Republicans (82%) and a good portion of independents (61%) support the idea of waiting to see how Trump proceeds. In contrast, 71% of Democrats prefer that their party take a stand against the President. Interestingly, only 18% of Republicans and 39% of independents align with that viewpoint.
In the same survey, Democrats were asked about tariffs and trade policy, prompting many to suggest a wait-and-see attitude. The results showed that 51% believe Democrats should defer opposition until more information is available. Divergent opinions emerge once again: while 81% of Democrats wish for their party to oppose tariffs, most Republicans (78%) and independents (53%) think it’s better to observe how things develop.
Another area of focus was Trump’s immigration policy. Here, 54% of respondents felt that Democrats should hold off on opposing until they see how the situation evolves, whereas 46% favored immediate opposition. Notably, 76% of Democrats are in favor of opposing the President on this issue, while 80% of Republicans and 58% of independents support the notion of waiting.
Additionally, a significant 58% of those surveyed believe that Democrats should contribute to the government’s efforts to reduce waste.
This survey was conducted from June 11 to 12, polling 2,097 registered voters, with a margin of error of 2.2%.
