On June 21, the US military launched strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fodow, Natanz, and Isfahan—under an operation called Midnight Hammer. This mission aimed to dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment program and hinder its efforts to develop nuclear weapons. It marked the first direct strike by the US in the Israeli-Iranian conflict, involving 125 aircraft. President Trump hailed the operation as “an epic military success” during a speech from the White House.

Naturally, Americans are left wondering about the aftermath. What will Iran’s response look like? What new developments might unfold for the US?

A commentator, Glenn, discussed the potential future implications around these issues. He compared it to previous strikes, suggesting that there are similarities with the operation against Soleimani during Trump’s first term, but he also warned that US involvement might deepen.

“The last thing we need is another military disaster in the Middle East. We cannot afford to have American troops on the ground; that much is clear,” Glenn mentioned. “But it really all hinges on Iran’s next moves. There are two scenarios that trouble me: one is if Iran starts to target US forces in the Middle East or if Iran-backed terrorists retaliate against us, possibly even here in America.” He added another major concern is that Iran might decide to close the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil passage. Glenn pointed out that the Iranian Congress has already approved measures to close the strait in response to the US strikes, but the ultimate decision lies with the supreme leadership.

If the Strait of Hormuz were to be blocked, Glenn warned, we might see oil prices skyrocketing—potentially reaching between $120 and $150 per barrel, or even $200. He termed this scenario a “very bad knockout punch.”

Alternatively, he speculated that the Iranian regime could face collapse, possibly leading to uprisings. However, that outcome seems less likely with reports of hardline “religious police” patrolling the streets, exerting strict control over the population and already executing individuals labeled as “Israeli spies.”

Glenn also noted an unsettling development: both China and Russia blamed the US for the strikes. He highlighted that a top Iranian official is expected to meet with Putin soon, suggesting their alliance remains strong despite recent events.

However, uncertainty lingers. “Our future is complicated. We could see amazing success, or we might be heading toward a very dark future,” he remarked.

For those criticizing Trump regarding the current situation, Glenn reminded listeners that blame could also be placed on all presidents since 2000. He recalled that Trump’s predecessor made it clear that Iran should never possess a nuclear bomb, while Trump’s administration was the first to send substantial cash to Iran in a failed attempt to broker peace.

Glenn concluded by calling Operation Midnight Hammer a “decisive, bold, and courageous action.” He urged people to prepare for whatever may come next and to pray for peace.
