Trump's ceasefire announcement leads to backlash from former MLB player

Former Cincinnati Reds Shortstop’s Views on Trump and Iran

Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart recently expressed his disapproval of President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Iran’s nuclear facilities. On social media, he stated that he would “no longer support” the president if the U.S. were to become involved in a conflict with Iran and Israel. However, following an announcement from Trump about a ceasefire agreement, Cozart had a change of heart.

“I am happy to eat my words for what happened today… I’ve learned to trust a man,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Cozart isn’t alone; several figures in the sports community have praised Trump after Iran’s responses to U.S. military actions. Auburn Tigers basketball coach Bruce Pearl shared his thoughts on social media, suggesting Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

According to Pearl, “This is a peace-making move, something that free world leaders do—intervening when both sides are at odds and offering solutions they can’t refuse.” He reiterated his belief that Trump should be recognized for his efforts.

As Trump heads to a NATO summit, the ceasefire between Iran and Israel remains fragile. He emphasized the need for both nations to cease their missile fire, expressing dissatisfaction with both sides’ actions. “I am not satisfied with Israel. You say now you are 12 hours into the ceasefire, yet they aren’t stopping their operations. I’m not satisfied with Iran either,” he added.

Amid these tensions, the dynamics between these long-standing adversaries continue to unfold, raising questions about the effectiveness of the recent agreements and the broader implications for regional stability.
