At the recent premiere of “Jurassic World Rebirth” in New York, Jonathan Bailey, 37, joined co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and others. The event took place on Monday night.
During the event, Bailey and Johansson, who is 40, shared a brief kiss. It felt lighthearted and spontaneous.
Bailey remarked, “I believe there’s love to be shown in many ways, and if you can’t kiss your friends… then, well, life’s just too short.” At the premiere, Johansson affectionately grabbed his face for the kiss, similar to gestures made by friends at the London premiere earlier this month.
It’s noteworthy that Bailey is openly gay, while Johansson is married to Colin Jost, adding a playful twist to their moment on stage.
Earlier in the month, Bailey discussed what it means to be an openly gay actor in a major franchise like this one. “Sometimes, you have to excel to prove your capabilities, but that doesn’t mean I’m not feeling it,” he explained, acknowledging the historical context of representation. “There’s been a shift where being an openly gay actor no longer restricts roles the way it used to.”
Johansson has shared thoughts too, particularly about the franchise’s appeal through all ages. She expressed how her daughter, who is 10, reacts to the films, stating that many fans find this installment quite thrilling yet scary.
Reflecting on her childhood experience watching the first “Jurassic Park,” Johansson described the mix of fear and laughter she felt. “It really left an impression,” she reminisced, praising the series for its emotional and visual thrills.
Meanwhile, Johansson and Jost have been in the headlines lately, especially for some humorous comments Jost made during “SNL.” He included some playful jabs in an annual joke exchange, which Johansson noted was quite vulgar, yet she found humor in it.
Despite playful jests, Jost has consistently shown admiration for Johansson, as he once wrote in his memoir about her unique charm and beauty. “I’ve found someone I truly love,” he gushed.
