Tom Cruise playfully called out Michael Cera during their collaboration.
While filming a segment for the 2010 MTV Film Awards, Cera humorously reacted to the situation. He recalled on the “Louis Theroux Podcast” that they were whispering slightly during the shoot, although it felt like they were being overheard from quite a distance.
Cruise, now 62, paused to quip, “Are Michael Cera talking during the AF-King Take?” Cera thought it was just a joke, but it was clear Cruise wanted a bit of quiet on set.
Later, Cruise teased Cera, suggesting he should “talk during AF-King Take,” while reassuring him it was all in good fun.
Cera described Cruise as “very friendly,” but noted that he runs the set with a clear leadership presence. Despite the light banter, the experience was still surreal for Cera, who admitted he initially spaced out when reflecting on their work together.
“I’m not working with Tom Cruise,” Cera had insisted at first, only to backtrack, humorously acknowledging how easy it is to forget that astonishing fact.
As their conversation shifted, they also touched on Scientology, a belief system that Cruise has been involved with since the 1980s, introduced to him by his first wife, Mimi Rogers.
Currently, Cruise is believed to be getting closer to Ana de Armas, but they didn’t comment on any dating rumors during a recent promotional tour for another project.
