Tom Hardy recently made his first public appearance following his unexpected dismissal from “MobLand.”
The actor was spotted at the Masters of the Universe afterparty in London on Wednesday night, as reported by Page Six.
Hardy, 48, showed up later in the evening, just missing the red carpet situation.
For the evening, the “Mad Max: Fury Road” star opted for a casual look, sporting a brown patterned short-sleeved button-up, paired with white pants and sneakers.
This low-profile outing comes just a week after it was revealed that he had been let go from “MobLand,” where he portrayed lead character Harry Da Souza for two seasons.
A source informed Variety that his exit was attributed to “on-set issues” involving executive producer Jez Butterworth and 101 Studios.
Further reports from Pac News indicated that Hardy was often late to the set, left notes with script changes, and expressed frustration toward the ensemble cast, which featured notable actors such as Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Additionally, it was suggested that Hardy’s behavior nearly caused Butterworth to resign, contributing to his firing from the show.
Emerging details shed light on the dynamic between Hardy and Mirren. Sources noted that she was reportedly upset by his actions.
“Tom’s character is charming. He’s a gentle person, but off-camera, he’s quite different. Dame Helen is delightful and a consummate professional,” said a source to the Daily Mail.
As reported, “She is growing increasingly frustrated with Tom and his behavior.” The source highlighted Hardy’s tendency to arrive late, which irked Mirren, who values professionalism. “His attitude, coupled with his tardiness, doesn’t sit well with her.”
Some sources have described Hardy as strutting around set like a “king,” suggesting he carries an air of arrogance.
It seems that tensions have become quite personal between him and Mirren. “I feel like Tom is pushing her buttons,” shared one source.
A separate source elaborated to The Hollywood Reporter, claiming that Hardy’s “career suicide” stemmed from his consistent lateness during filming.
“He would stay in his trailer for hours, leaving the rest of the cast waiting as a sort of power play,” the source asserted, adding, “I think it would be career suicide to keep Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren waiting.”
Attempts by Page Six to reach Hardy’s representatives for comment were unsuccessful.
This isn’t the first time the “Venom” actor has had disputes on set, with previous conflicts reportedly involving Charlize Theron, Shia LaBeouf, and Patrick Stewart.
