Ocasio-Cortez Hits Back at Trump Following Iran Strike

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive Democrat from New York, responded sharply to President Donald Trump’s comments after the U.S. military struck Iranian targets on Saturday night. The exchange marked another chapter in their ongoing back-and-forth.

“President, don’t direct your anger at me – I’m just a foolish girl,” Ocasio-Cortez quipped after Trump referred to her as “silly AOC.” She continued, suggesting he redirect his frustration towards those who influenced him to break trust with Americans and the Constitution through his military actions in Iran.

Ocasio-Cortez has become one of Trump’s most vocal critics in Congress, particularly following the recent U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites. Many Democrats were outraged, deeming his actions unconstitutional. However, Ocasio-Cortez didn’t hold back in her call for accountability.

In a lengthy statement, Trump labeled her as one of the “silliest” members of Congress, to which Ocasio-Cortez responded with a nod to her Bronx roots, saying, “You should know that you can eat a Queens boy for breakfast.”

Democratic Support for Impeachment Efforts

Meanwhile, Trump publicly dismissed Ocasio-Cortez’s criticisms while reiterating his belief that impeachment attempts against him were unwarranted. He pointed out that Democrats had previously accused him of misconduct. Indeed, during his first term, he faced impeachment twice—first for allegedly pressuring Ukraine to interfere in the election and later for inciting the January 6 Capitol riots. Both times, he was acquitted by the Senate.

Ocasio-Cortez is not alone in her calls for impeachment following the military action in Iran. Representative Al Green from Texas introduced an article of impeachment, arguing that Trump’s actions violated Congress’s authority to declare war, as stated in the Constitution. However, the House voted overwhelmingly—344 to 79—to dismiss Green’s resolution.

“That’s absolutely the basis for impeachment,” Ocasio-Cortez said, reacting to Trump’s announcement about the strike. She, along with several other Democrats, called for accountability, but Trump instead targeted Ocasio-Cortez and other progressives in his response.

He also provoked Ocasio-Cortez to make another attempt at impeachment, saying, “Go ahead and try to impeach me, make my day!” In the rest of his remarks, Trump criticized her intelligence, implying she should undergo a cognitive test he claimed was conducted at Walter Reed Medical Center.

In a separate exchange on social media, Ocasio-Cortez pushed back against Vice President J.D. Vance’s comments, implying his advice to the president might have contributed to the military actions in Iran.
