Trump’s Comments on NATO Director and Middle East Tensions
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump revealed that NATO’s executive director, Mark Latte, affectionately referred to him as “daddy.” During a discussion, Latte complimented Trump for using strong language regarding a truce contract between Israel and Iran, stating, “Daddy must use strong language sometimes.” A reporter at the NATO Summit inquired if Trump views his allies as his “children.”
Trump responded, saying, “No, he likes me. I think he likes me. If he doesn’t, I’ll let you know. I’ll come back and I’ll slap him hard. He did it so lovingly. Daddy, you are my daddy.”
The president reported on Monday that Iran had launched missiles into Israel, but both nations reached a ceasefire. Before heading to the Netherlands on Tuesday, Trump criticized both countries for continuing their hostilities despite the ceasefire announcement. “Essentially, there are two countries that have been fighting hard for so long and I don’t know what they’re doing,” he stated.
Recently, the U.S. conducted bombings on Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordou, Natanz, and Isfahan, aiming to halt their nuclear weapon development. Trump declared that the B-2 bomber “completely wiped out” one of the facilities. However, CNN reported that an initial assessment from the Defense Intelligence Reporting Agency suggested the extent of the damage might be different than what Trump claimed.
