Ohio GOP Senator Proposes Resolution for Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize

Ohio Republican Senator Bernie Moreno has put forward a resolution advocating for President Donald Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Moreno, originally from Bogota, Colombia, became a U.S. citizen at 18.

On Wednesday, during a Senate session, he called on the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, expressing appreciation for Trump’s efforts in resolving Iran’s nuclear issues in just 12 days. The resolution encourages participation from all peace-loving nations.

Interestingly, former President Barack Obama was awarded the same prize less than a year into his presidency, despite his administration reportedly dropping over 100,000 bombs across seven countries during his two terms.

Republicans have pointed out that Trump’s actions—like approving a recent airstrike on Iran without Congressional consent—resemble those of Obama.

Moreno remarked on social media, “Obama won the Nobel, then killed hundreds of civilians and did nothing to stop the eternal war.”

This comes after President Earl “Buddy” Carter from Georgia recently nominated Trump for this week’s award, recognizing his significant role in ending armed conflicts between Israel and Iran and inhibiting the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining advanced weaponry.

Carter stated, “His leadership exemplifies the ideals the Nobel Peace Prize aims to promote—peace, the prevention of war, and advancements in global harmony.”

In a political climate filled with complexities, discussions about peace and conflict often take unexpected turns. In this case, maybe it’s another chapter in an ongoing narrative around leadership and diplomacy.
