Swaggart Family Requests Prayers as Jimmy Continues to Face Health Challenges

The ministry of 90-year-old televangelist Jimmy Swaggart announced that there are “no significant changes” in his condition after he was admitted to the ICU due to a heart attack a few weeks back. During a service on Sunday, June 15th, Swaggart’s son, Donnie, confirmed that his father had suffered a heart attack.

Donnie shared details about the family’s experience, stating, “We’ve always kept things private. We’ve tackled challenges together as a family, but this feels different.” He recounted a morning when he and his son rushed to their mother’s house because Swaggart had gone into cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to revive him, Donnie noted that his father did not regain consciousness.

Fortunately, the medical team managed to restore his heartbeat, but Donnie expressed concern, saying, “Now he’s in the ICU, and without a miracle…”

On the following Monday, the ministry provided an update indicating, “There was no change in his condition.” They added, “The days ahead will certainly be difficult. We humbly ask you to keep the Swaggart family and ministry in your prayers.”

Jimmy Swaggart rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, with his television broadcasts reaching an audience of around 100 million. However, his career faced significant setbacks due to scandals involving prostitution in 1988 and again in 1991. While his ministerial credentials were revoked, his family continues to support his mission.

In addition to this, he established the SonLife Broadcasting Network (SBN) and continues to lead Bible study messages alongside his son Donnie.
