This season, Kate Linklark is dealing with injuries. She returned earlier this month after missing five games due to a calf issue.
However, on Thursday, the Indiana Fever announced that the talented player will miss a game against the Los Angeles Sparks due to a left groin injury.
This could highlight some ongoing shooting struggles for Clark. Since her return, she has hit just 11 of her first 20 attempts from beyond the arc. In her last three games, she’s only made one out of 23 shots from that range.
Scoring-wise, she managed 11, 19, and 6 points in those games, alongside 9, 10, and 9 assists respectively. Overall, Clark is shooting 27.7% from the field, and during this stretch of three games, the Fever have gone 1-2, managing to win against the Seattle Storm.
Despite her recent challenges, teammate Lexi Hull reassured reporters, saying, “She’s fine. We’re not worried about that. She’s a great shooter and a great player. It happens to everyone, even the best.” Aaliyah Boston stepped up in one of the games, scoring 31 points and grabbing eight rebounds, with Kelsey Mitchell adding 26 points to help Clark during this tough period.
Currently, the Fever holds a 7-7 record, while Los Angeles sits at 4-11. The Fever’s schedule is a bit hectic, as they have a short break before heading out on the road for two more games, followed by a five-game homestand.
Interestingly, this year marks an unusual time for Clark, who previously hadn’t missed any games due to injuries before this season. She did, however, face some leg issues during the preseason, which caused her to miss one game.
As for Clark, it’s uncertain how much more time she might need to recover from this latest setback.
