Several arrests made following a violent uprising at the Portland ICE facility involving weapons

In response to violent protests at an Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon, multiple individuals armed with knives and explosives have been arrested.

A representative from the Department of Homeland Security noted that during the chaos, one demonstrator attempted to target law enforcement with “Roman candles” fireworks.

According to reports, it appears that the individual in question also threatened officers by swinging a large knife in their direction. Fortunately, officials stated that no law enforcement personnel sustained serious injuries in the altercation.

The identity of the suspect remains unknown, but the Department of Homeland Security confirmed three arrests made during the event.

“It’s troubling to see such violent outbreaks becoming increasingly frequent,” the spokesperson mentioned. They further indicated that attacks on ICE personnel have surged by 500% recently.

Secretary Kristi Noem made a firm statement regarding the events, asserting that the message to protestors is unequivocal: “You will not stop us or slow us down. Federal law enforcement will continue to strictly enforce the law, and any physical assault on an officer will result in severe legal consequences.”

Reports also surfaced about a prior event labeled the “No Kings” protest, occurring on June 14, where a mob used fireworks and projectiles against federal agents. During this previous clash, four officers were injured, and the mob caused considerable damage to the ICE facility.

Authorities confirmed that the site has since been secured.
