Iran’s Parliament Votes to Expel Nuclear Inspectors

In a recent parliamentary session, Iranian officials shouted “death to America” as they approved a bill to terminate cooperation with nuclear inspectors. This decision came soon after President Donald Trump’s military strike on Iran’s nuclear sites.

On Wednesday, Iran’s parliament passed the law aimed at suspending collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This vote followed a direct US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, marking an unprecedented escalation in tensions.

The atmosphere during the vote was charged, with lawmakers chanting slogans against the US and Israel. One of the officials, Mohammad Karibah, emphasized the need to act “quickly” in enhancing the uranium enrichment program.

“This industry is deeply rooted in our country, and they cannot uproot it,” stated a spokesperson from Iran’s atomic energy organization, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to its nuclear ambitions.

Statements from Iranian leadership further clarified their stance, indicating no intent to back down. Deputy Minister Majid Takt Lavanch remarked to the German media, “No one will tell us what to do,” insisting that enrichment efforts would proceed under the guise of development for peaceful purposes.

Ali Shamhani, an advisor to the Supreme Leader, issued a warning via X, implying that the situation remains volatile with “surprises” still ahead.

A state broadcaster addressed President Trump directly, asserting, “We will enrich uranium to the level of our choice… we won’t answer anyone.” This highlights a more defiant approach from Iran in response to external pressures.

Congressman Amir Hossein Tabeti expressed that the West should be prepared for uncertainty concerning Iran’s nuclear program, suggesting a deliberate effort at obfuscation.

On Thursday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei broke his silence, claiming a victory over the US and Israel despite possible risks, including a direct attack from a US stealth bomber. He further criticized Washington’s interventions, suggesting that they were aimed at propping up Israel.

Khamenei referenced an Iranian missile strike on a US base in Qatar, which, while not causing casualties, was significant enough to warrant attention.

These events follow President Trump’s recent involvement in negotiating a regional ceasefire, highlighting the ongoing complexities surrounding Iran’s nuclear endeavors.
