Caitlyn Clark’s Undying Spirit Shines through Injury
Even with an injury, Caitlyn Clark’s competitive fire is evident. This past Thursday, during a game against the Sparks, her absence was felt in the Fever’s 85-75 loss. It was a moment filled with humor, occurring just before halftime.
Clark, frustrated with a referee, was making her way across the court to get Kelsey Plum’s attention. In a surprising turn, a Sparks player began shouting at Clark, resulting in a technical foul for the Fever superstar.
Despite Plum’s attempts to reason with officials, it fell on deaf ears.
Coach Lynn Roberts of the Sparks chuckled at the exchange, sharing a light-hearted moment as the incident unfolded.
Ultimately, the Sparks found joy in their victory, marking their fifth win of the season, while the Fever experienced their third loss in four games.
Unfortunately, Clark was sidelined for this game due to a left groin injury, having been declared unfit earlier in the day. Fever coach Stephanie White shared that Clark had communicated her discomfort upon returning from a recent West Coast trip.
“It’s really day by day, and it depends on how she reacts to treatment,” White explained. “I try to stick to my role while letting our conditioning staff manage her recovery, but I had a sense of her condition late last night.”
This Friday, the Fever prepares to face Dallas with hopes of turning their fortunes around.
