Controversy Over Comments on Melania Trump’s Visa
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) stirred up controversy on Wednesday when she made remarks mocking First Lady Melania Trump and her acquisition of the “Einstein Visa” for entering the U.S.
During a hearing, Crockett questioned the integrity surrounding the president’s family’s immigration status. She stated, “We’re talking about integrity, so we’re confused as to why our Republican colleagues aren’t addressing the lack of integrity related to the first lady’s visa.” She continued by pointing out, “Melania, the model, who is the first lady, is a model. But, when I mention model, I don’t mean in the same league as Tyra Banks or Cindy Crawford. I applied for an EB-1 visa too, which, well, symbolizes something significant.”
Crockett elaborated that this type of visa is awarded for extraordinary achievements, like winning a Nobel Prize or an Olympic medal, emphasizing, “Last time I checked, the first lady didn’t have those accolades. I’m trying to see some logic here.”
According to reports, Melania Trump obtained her Green Card through the EB-1 program, also known as the Einstein Visa. This program is generally utilized by highly skilled professionals, including academic researchers and top executives.
Crockett’s comments incited a strong backlash online. One user suggested, “Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) attacked Melania Trump for her modeling career and visa, claiming she doesn’t deserve the Einstein visa like other celebrated models.” Another sentiment expressed was that Crockett revealed signs of jealousy.
