NFL Under Scrutiny Following Torre’s Podcast Remarks
Journalist Pablo Torre recently indicated that the NFL is closely watching his media appearances. This follows his statements on a podcast where he revealed that the league allegedly conspired with its 32 franchises to avoid providing veteran star quarterbacks with guaranteed money in the near future.
During an episode of the Dan Le Batard Show, Torre mentioned that the league “fought really hard” to keep this information under wraps after he received a 61-page legal document stemming from an arbitration hearing.
The document reportedly contains testimonies from various key figures, including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, among others. It highlights attempts to collude among the franchise owners.
“I find it interesting that the NFL is keeping an eye on my media presence. They have to hear what I’m saying, just like everyone else,” Torre remarked, though he didn’t elaborate further.
Torre noted that system arbitrator Christopher Dronney concluded in a January 2025 ruling that it was clear the NFL Management Committee encouraged its members to minimize guaranteed contracts for veteran players during a March 2022 meeting.
Interestingly, the outcome of that arbitration favored the NFL. Goodell has yet to publicly address these allegations.
“People are trying to figure out how I got a hold of this document,” Torre added in his comments.
Discussing the implications of the document, Torre expressed that its exploration has led to one of the most compelling stories he has worked on, involving various powerful figures including league officials and billionaire owners. “As a journalist, I believe in shedding light on these matters.” In May, Torre also made headlines for investigating the relationship between UNC football coach Bill Belichick and his much younger girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
