Trump anticipates a Gaza ceasefire may occur 'in the coming week'

President Donald Trump has suggested that a ceasefire in Gaza may occur “along next week.” During a recent press briefing in the Oval Office, he described the situation in Gaza as “horrifying,” yet expressed some optimism about a potential ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, stating, “I think it’s close. I just talked to some of the people involved.”

Trump further addressed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting, “You know, we’re supplying the area with a lot of money and a lot of food because you have to, because you have to. Theoretically, we’re not involved in it, but people are dying.” He urged other nations to provide humanitarian assistance, pointing out, “You essentially look at the people’s lines just to get one meal. It’s a shame that other countries aren’t helping.”

He emphasized the lack of support, reiterating, “No one is helping us do that because I think we have to be humanely based.” Trump recounted seeing crowds of people desperate for food, mentioning, “We’re working on Gaza and trying to take care of it. A lot of food has been sent out there, and other countries should help.”

This comes after Trump approved a strike on several Iranian nuclear development sites and declared a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, marking an end to what he referred to as the “12-Day War.”

In addition, Trump tackled other issues during the briefing, including discussions surrounding weapons for Ukraine. He mentioned that he might “approve” the Patriot missile system for Ukraine’s air defense.
