Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene Praise Zoran Mamdani’s Primary Win

Political commentators Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) expressed their admiration for Zoran Mamdani, who recently won the Democratic primary for New York City mayor.

“He was the only one among the candidates who said he wanted to concentrate on New York City,” Carlson remarked. During a discussion about candidates visiting foreign countries, Mamdani stood out. While many had answers related to international issues, Carlson noted that Mamdani was focused solely on local concerns.

Mamdani emphasized, “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be in New York, and if I want to meet Jewish community members, I’ll visit their synagogues or homes.” This commitment to staying local really resonated with Carlson.

Green echoed Carlson’s sentiments, stating that Mamdani provided the “right answer” and criticized former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) who also ran in the primary.

Both commentators scrutinized the administration’s involvement in the Israeli-Iran conflict, pointing out the divide among supporters regarding active U.S. support for Israel versus those cautioned about broader warfare.

Interestingly, while praising Mamdani, both Carlson and Greene were critical of his policies. The mayoral candidate has proposed ideas like free transportation, free childcare, and freezing rent in the city.

“I completely oppose his program…” Carlson shared with his audience. “I don’t believe it will succeed. He’s discussing economic issues, while everyone else seems fixated on foreign policy. Why is it challenging to focus on domestic economics?”

Green further suggested that the lack of discussion on economic issues perhaps indicates a broader ignorance on how to resolve them.

Mamdani, in response to criticism from Republican lawmakers and the president, characterized him as “a 100% communist madman” based on his policy approach.

“This isn’t the first time President Trump has made comments about me. I urge him—and all New Yorkers—to really explore my actual policies aimed at making our city more affordable,” Mamdani stated during an interview with ABC News’ Rachel Scott.
