Illegal Immigrant Linked to Terror Plot
A Senate Democrat has hesitated to link illegal immigration directly to national security risks, even after it came to light that a plot against the UFC event at the White House was orchestrated by immigrants from Mexico.
Abraham Alvarez, an illegal immigrant who overstayed his visa, has been identified as the main suspect in a plan for a “mass casualty” attack involving an explosive drone at the White House on June 14th. This information was initially reported by the Department of Homeland Security.
When Fox News Digital approached U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., about whether she views illegal immigrants as a national security threat, her response was noncommittal. “We have to keep a close eye on our national security, and we have to stop terrorist attacks,” she stated, before adding, “We’ll look into the specific details. I don’t know about that.”
Alvarez, now 31, had his B2 tourist visa expire back in 2001 after coming to the U.S. as a child. He was later granted protections under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2014 and has remained in the country since.
Sen. Cantwell, while not taking a hard stance on immigration, has frequently criticized the more stringent enforcement measures that were employed during the Trump administration.
Moreover, Cantwell has previously voted against various efforts by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) surrounding claims of racial profiling and has supported policies to prevent the detention of pregnant undocumented immigrants. She also opposed a 2025 law aimed at detaining certain undocumented immigrants charged with crimes.
Alongside Alvarez, five other individuals were arrested recently for allegedly assisting in the terrorist plot targeting the UFC event. The motives behind the attack, according to federal authorities, were complex, involving issues of government corruption, the influence of Israel on U.S. politics, and how the Jeffrey Epstein case has been handled.
Alvarez reportedly expressed a desire in a text to acquire “as many and deadly drones as possible.” Investigators noted that his target list included wealthy individuals and politicians funded by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
Of the 23 people implicated in the plot, 18 remain uncharged. Those involved could face severe penalties, including life imprisonment and hefty fines if convicted of planning violence at the White House.
