Ukraine reports Russia conducted its biggest airstrike of the war.

Ukrainian officials reported on Sunday that Russia executed its most extensive airstrike in a single night since the outset of the conflict with Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a total of 537 aerial weapons were launched by Moscow, with 249 intercepted, 226 lost, and some believed to have been electronically jammed.

This attack marks, well, the largest airstrike since the invasion began in February 2022, as noted by Yuriy Ihnat, who heads communications for the Ukrainian Air Force. He emphasized that this includes various drones and missile types.

In a somewhat related note, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Trump for his support, especially after some criticism surfaced regarding his supposed lack of appreciation.

Interestingly, the strikes impacted several areas, including parts of western Ukraine that are relatively distant from the front lines.

To safeguard its airspace, Poland and its allies took action and scrambled their aircraft, according to the Polish Air Force.

Tragically, one drone strike in the Kherson region claimed a life, while another person perished when a drone struck a car in Kharkiv, as reported by Governor Ole Snyyevbov. Additionally, in the Cherkassy area, six individuals, including a child, were injured, per the regional governor Ihol Tablet.

In another statement, Russian officials mentioned that Moscow does not plan to provide warheads to Iran, following some provocative remarks from Trump.

In the Lviv region, a significant fire erupted at an industrial site in Drokhovich, and as a result, drone attacks caused power outages in various parts of the city.

The Ukrainian Air Force revealed that one F-16 fighter jet, reportedly damaged while intercepting air targets, crashed, leading to the loss of its pilots.

This recent assault follows comments made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated on Friday that Moscow is open to resuming direct peace discussions in Istanbul to conclude the war. Yet, despite ongoing international peace efforts led by the U.S., no significant breakthroughs have occurred thus far. Previous discussions in Istanbul between Russian and Ukrainian representatives ended without any progress.
