Angel Reese rejoices over her brother Julian joining the Lakers as a free agent

Julian Reese Signs with the Los Angeles Lakers

Angel Reese is feeling pretty proud these days, especially after her brother, Julian, achieved a significant milestone in his basketball career. Julian, who used to play for the Maryland Terrapins, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Lakers following the NBA draft that took place just the day before.

Celebrating this achievement, Angel took to social media, sharing the news of her brother’s signing. Her excitement was palpable; she didn’t hold back in congratulating him and also encouraged him to make the most of his opportunities ahead.

Julian, affectionately known as “Juju,” had a solid four-year run at Maryland, racking up 1,488 points and grabbing over 1,000 rebounds. That’s a remarkable feat, making him one of only two players in the school’s history to hit that 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound mark.

Maryland’s head coach, Kevin Willard, has praised Julian’s contributions to the team. Back in February, he expressed a belief that one day, Julian’s jersey could hang from the rafters of their arena. His loyalty and consistency stood out, especially during a time when many athletes transfer for various reasons.

This past NCAA tournament saw the Terrapins reach the Sweet 16, with Julian averaging 13.3 points and nine rebounds per game during his senior year. He even earned All-Big Ten honors in his third season, which is certainly noteworthy.

Now, as he joins the Lakers’ Summer League roster, there’s a lot of anticipation about what’s next. He’ll be working alongside players like Bronny James and Dalton Knecht, trying to prove himself and hopefully secure a position on the team’s roster or at least within the G-League.

It’s a big step, and one can only hope that this is just the beginning for Julian Reese.
