Chicago Sky Seizes Victory with Angel Reese’s Stellar Performance
The Chicago Sky achieved a much-needed win on Sunday, beating the Los Angeles Sparks 92-85, largely thanks to Angel Reese’s impressive performance on both offense and defense.
Reese came close to a triple-double, finishing with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists in 38 minutes played at home. It’s worth noting she entered the game as the WNBA leader in rebounds, averaging 12.3 per game.
This marks her fourth consecutive double-double and her 36th in just her first 50 career games. She maintained a perfect free-throw record, converting all four attempts, and her efficient shooting contributed significantly to her team’s success. On the defensive side, she recorded two blocks and one steal.
While Reese shone, she wasn’t the only contributor. Guard Aliel Atkins finished an impressive 7 for 7 from the field, contributing 20 points. Additionally, Rachel Banham added 13 points and four assists, while Elizabeth Williams chipped in with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Kia Nurse also made an impact off the bench, sinking three three-pointers for a total of 14 points. Conversely, Sparks’ star guard Kelsey Plum struggled with her shooting but managed to make an impact from the free-throw line, ultimately contributing 22 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Dearlica Humvee delivered a solid performance as well, recording a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Azura Stevens supported the effort with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and four assists.
