Top Pizza Spots of 2025 Revealed

It’s official: a new list just dropped, highlighting the 100 best pizza places of the year. For those of us in New York, it’s a bit of a letdown—my go-to spot didn’t even come close to the top.

The top five, somewhat surprisingly, are all Italian establishments.

Leading the pack is Una Pizza Napoletana, a place that’s often championed as the best in the city.

Owned by Anthony Mangieri, this restaurant has consistently appeared on esteemed lists, but this year, it’s outdone itself by surpassing other beloved New York pizzerias.

Since Mangieri brought his renowned pies to the city back in 2004, he’s been crafting and refining recipes in various locations around NYC and beyond for the last two decades.

Una Pizza Napoletana is known for its straightforward approach, featuring classics like Margherita, Bianca, and Marinara. In a light-hearted nod on April Fool’s Day, Mangieri humorously mentioned there are no trendy toppings like hot honey or ranch dressing.

Initially a fixture in the East Village, Una Pizza now attracts long lines and glowing reviews at its new Lower East Side location after a brief stint in New Jersey during the pandemic.

While many places might consider expanding, Mangieri prefers to keep things personal. He’s famously stated, “No one is making dough in a restaurant 25 years except for me.” That hands-on approach really seems to work.

Other New York pizzerias that made the list include Lucari, Stretch Pizza, Don Antonio, and Mama.

Additionally, L’Industrie snagged a special 2025 Street Pizza Award and ranked 34th overall.

Interestingly, Ceres, which has gained fame from Barstool’s Dave Portnoy, didn’t fare as well this year.

To maintain a fair ranking, the Best Pizza Award utilizes a comprehensive voting system. They’ve enlisted 150 industry professionals, including food critics and journalists, along with 362 pizza chefs from 60 countries, who cannot vote for themselves or peers.

Each vote is meticulously verified and kept confidential, which adds credibility to the process.

This year, voters clearly favored Una Pizza Napoletana, but it’s not the first time a pizzeria has taken the top spot. In 2024, a competing list also awarded Una Pizza as the best in the world.
