Recently, comedian Dana Carvey, who portrayed former President Biden during the latest season of Saturday Night Live, expressed her thoughts on the former president, describing him as “spiritually compromising.” In a candid moment on the “Fly to the Wall” podcast, she mentioned her awareness of what she called Biden’s “mental compromise.” This realization was, well, evident to her, but she found it tricky to address in comedic terms without being harsh.
Throughout the 2024-2025 SNL season, Carvey’s skits often poked fun at Biden and his administration, earning her praise for her memorable and sometimes bewildering impersonation. Carvey remarked, “If I can make Biden interesting to everyone, then I’ve succeeded. There were aspects I chose not to highlight to keep it engaging.” It’s interesting how comedy can sometimes tread that delicate line.
In a throwback to her portrayal, she humorously reiterated one of Biden’s catchphrases: “I’m not kidding around here, I’m serious.” This makes you think, doesn’t it? Like, how easy is it to tease a sitting president, especially one who’s 90?
Bowen, known for his role in “Modern Family,” also commented on Carvey’s impression, noting it brought out Biden’s more anecdotal side, which, you know, can make for some funny bits. He echoed some of Biden’s famous lines, almost playfully exaggerating them. It’s moments like these that spark laughter and reflection simultaneously.
Carvey mentioned that one of Biden’s staffers attended one of her shows and expressed fondness for the impressions, which, I guess, is a good sign? Although, oddly enough, she mentioned being told to have lunch at the White House, but that never came to fruition.
