Lifetime to Launch Faith-Based Films This Summer

Lifetime, the American cable network, is set to release four faith-based films this summer. These features will center on women who draw strength from their faith to navigate challenging circumstances. Starting on July 19, the network will showcase a new film every week. Notably, Chrissy Metz, known for her role in “This Is Us,” will star in one of these films.

Elaine Frontine Bryant, the executive vice president of programming, expressed the network’s commitment to delivering content that resonates with its audience’s desire for stories emphasizing strength, resilience, and faith.

“We are always listening to our audiences and know that there is always a desire for stories that reflect strength, resilience, and faith. In these four new films, we are excited to step into faith-based spaces in a genuine, powerful, deeply emotional way. These are stories of healing, hope, and perseverance.”

Lifetime prides itself on being the ultimate women’s channel, featuring narratives crafted by and for women. The recent announcement comes amid a growing trend in faith-based content, following the success of projects like “Sound of Freedom,” released last year. Other notable upcoming works include “Will: The Story of Moses,” an Amazon Prime series, and “David’s House,” among others.

In 2021, the network faced controversy surrounding a documentary about James Kennedy, which led to its eventual cancellation.
