Analyst: XRP Is Primed for a Short Squeeze Rally

Technical indicators seem to hint that XRP might be on the verge of a rapid change, according to the well-known crypto analyst Cryptoinsightuk. In a recent post, the analyst pointed out significant on-chain and derivative data, illustrating a buildup of liquidity above current price levels, along with increasing open interest and patterns reminiscent of earlier bullish conditions.

Could there be an XRP short squeeze?

“The liquidity at this point is intriguing,” mentioned Cryptoinsightuk, emphasizing what he described as “overcrowded liquidity on us,” suggesting that a shift is likely, perhaps sooner rather than later. An accompanying image shows a low-liquidity area around $1.90, while a higher zone, which could trigger a short squeeze, is around $2.40. This scenario indicates that short positions might face significant pressure if prices begin to climb.

The analysis leveraged data from @velo_xyz, revealing that open interest has been steadily increasing since an unusual spike on June 24. “This tells me we may have added short positions to the overall interest in $XRP,” the analyst noted, indicating that active short transactions could be at risk.

By overlaying this data with TradingDiff’s liquidity heatmap, Cryptoinsightuk speculated that he anticipates a short squeeze for XRP. While the timing is unpredictable, the blend of rising open interest, negative premiums, and dense liquidity signals a greater risk for short sellers.

However, the analyst also sounded a note of caution. “Both daily metrics for ETH and XRP still carry some level of liquidity beneath us,” he explained, recognizing the chance of potential false moves or liquidity being cleared out before any upward movement. “Of course, it’s possible to leave behind liquidity while certain players succeed,” he added, suggesting a level of unpredictability.

In his final remarks, he addressed changes in Ethereum’s liquidity landscape, which could have implications for the broader market. “There’s been a shift with ETH,” Cryptoinsightuk observed. “If you examine the liquidity above, the color signaling change indicates that shorts might be closing, or that new long positions are now below current prices, which weakens the previously noted liquidity.”

Whether XRP can hit that $2.40 liquidity zone remains uncertain, but it seems that momentum is building. As of now, XRP was trading around $2.18.
