Biden: Certain European leaders are urging me to get involved

Former President Biden recently shared that world leaders and U.S. lawmakers have reached out to him for guidance since he left office in January. Speaking at a Human Resources Management Association event in San Diego, he said, “I’m getting a call—I’m not going to get into it, I can’t—many European leaders are asking me to get engaged.” He clarified that while he’s not planning to re-enter the political fray, he’s offering advice when asked.

Biden mentioned he has been receiving calls from both Democratic and Republican colleagues wanting to discuss various issues. However, he didn’t elaborate on the specific topics of consultation.

He noted that despite not actively seeking the spotlight or engaging in debates with current leaders, others are looking for his input as they navigate Trump’s second presidency. “How can I leave?” he pondered aloud. He joked about the location of the event being convenient for visiting his great-grandson in Los Angeles, following the birth of his eldest son’s child in January.

Biden also mentioned that he is “working like hell” on a memoir that will cover his presidency while also expressing enjoyment for his classic 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

At 82, Biden withdrew from his reelection campaign a year ago after a challenging debate with Trump and rising concerns from Democrats about his ability to serve another term. A book titled “The Original Sin” by CNN reporters provided further insight into worries about Biden’s health and mental fitness towards the end of his presidency. Although he disclosed a diagnosis of an aggressive form of prostate cancer earlier this year, he rejected the negative portrayal in the book, insisting he is capable of serving another term.

Additionally, House Republicans are currently investigating Biden’s mental fitness during his tenure, seeking testimonies from former aides who worked closely with him while in office.
