Trump Kicks Off Independence Day Weekend in Iowa

During an event at the Iowa Fairgrounds, former President Donald Trump celebrated the passage of a significant bill earlier that day. He addressed the crowd, saying, “There’s no better birthday present for America than the incredible victory Congress achieved when they passed one big beautiful bill to make America great again.” The bill is to be signed in a ceremony the following day, July 4th.

This speech is part of a series of events leading to celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, organized by the America250 Committee, which consists of a mix of civilians and lawmakers.

“This gathering marks the start of an extraordinary year,” the United States 250 stated regarding Trump’s visit. They emphasized that the initiative aims to unite the nation through events across every state, building up to what they anticipate will be the largest celebration in the country’s history.

Before this, Trump hosted a military parade on June 14th, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military. The event showcased military displays and fireworks in Washington, D.C., coinciding with Trump’s 79th birthday.

Upcoming patriotic events are already scheduled, such as the ongoing Great American Road Trip Initiative, which encourages exploration of American highways, and reenactments of the July 4th celebration at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

In his remarks, Trump expressed gratitude towards Iowans, stating, “We love Iowa and won all three times. It’s pretty good, and we won a lot.” He seemed genuinely excited to return to a state he holds dear, appreciating the community’s supportive spirit.

Attendees had lined up outside the Iowa State Fairgrounds earlier in the day, despite the hot temperatures, eager to see Trump and partake in the event.

Trump’s event also included members of his Cabinet and various Iowa Congressional representatives, highlighting the importance of unity leading into the anniversary celebrations. Lee Greenwood, known for his patriotic songs, performed at the event, capping it off with fireworks following Trump’s speech.
