Protests Planned Amid July 4th Celebrations
As President Donald Trump gears up for Independence Day festivities, some Democrats plan to take to the streets to voice their dissent against the nation’s birthday. This comes as recent polls indicate a notable drop in expressions of patriotism among left-leaning citizens.
Across the country, Democrats are organizing protests and boycotts on July 4th. They aim to express their concerns about the current direction of the country. A recent poll shows that while 85% of Republicans report feeling proud of their country, only 36% of Democrats share the same sentiment. This movement, described by some as “No Kings 2.0,” unites dissidents from various states.
The Women’s March, which seeks to empower women as feminists, has called for participation in the “Free America Weekend.”
Trump’s Special 4th of July Event
“We must free America from the grip of greedy billionaires who have rigged the system against us,” the website for the Women’s March states. They stress the need to end poverty and ensure that everyone can afford basic necessities like food, healthcare, and housing.
The manifesto emphasizes a desire for a nation free from hate and terror, advocating for safety, love, and respect for everyone. John Schwartz, the founder of the People’s Union USA, released a video announcing a call for a boycott in July, aimed at opposing ICE’s actions and other policies of the Trump administration.
Schwartz characterizes this boycott as the most crucial of the year, focusing on regaining true freedom rather than engaging in political maneuvering. “The Constitution is being disregarded,” he declares, pointing out the lack of genuine independence to celebrate.
Schwartz further questions the true meaning of July 4th, pondering what kind of freedom is actually represented. He reflects on issues like taxation and struggles in the workplace, raising concerns about whether citizens feel genuinely free.
The coming protests coincide with President Trump’s “America 250” initiative, a campaign leading up to the 250th anniversary of the U.S. in 2026. The initiative invites citizens to rediscover American history and inspire a renewed spirit of adventure and innovation.
Ambassador Monica Crowley, responsible for protocol under the Trump administration, commented on the “America 250” campaign during an interview. She emphasized its goal of unifying the nation around shared values and pride.
As part of his celebrations, President Trump is expected to participate in events in Iowa on Thursday night, marking the start of the holiday festivities.
