Patrick Mahomes' trainer responds to Ben Roethlisberger

Patrick Mahomes’ personal trainer didn’t hold back after former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made a peculiar remark about Mahomes being, as he put it, “entrance from his prime.” Roethlisberger had been discussing on his podcast whether he would take Aaron Rodgers in his prime or the current version of Mahomes, and he opted for Rodgers.

In response, Mahomes’ trainer, Bobby Stroop, took to X to express his thoughts: “Not everyone stops working out at age 30, Ben.”

Looking at the numbers, it’s true that Mahomes’ stats took a dip in 2024 after his back-to-back Super Bowl wins. He racked up 3,928 passing yards, threw 26 touchdowns, and had 11 interceptions during the regular season, ultimately falling to the Eagles in the championship game.

Yet, Roethlisberger still picked Rodgers, who has an impressive collection of MVP awards from 2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021, while acknowledging Mahomes’ talent. He commented, “I think his Prime Aaron Rodgers was one of the few people he’d ever had, and so was his Prime Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes is just out of his prime. He is incredible, though—another controversial GOAT.” He added, “If we’re talking about Prime and Prime, I have to really think about it.”

Mahomes, already a two-time MVP winner in 2018 and 2022, has made a strong case as one of the all-time great quarterbacks, and he’s only 29.

In 2025, Rodgers is set to join the Steelers, where Roethlisberger enjoyed an illustrious 18-year career, after signing a one-year deal in the offseason.

Rodgers has indicated that his time with the Jets, along with his previous stint with the Packers, might mark the end of his career, but there’s a chance for him to surpass Roethlisberger on the NFL’s all-time passing yards list.
