Former NFL Player Brian Braman Faces Rare Cancer Diagnosis
Brian Braman, a Super Bowl champion and former linebacker, is currently facing a challenging battle against “very rare” cancer. Braman, who significantly contributed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, was diagnosed earlier this year, as mentioned in a GoFundMe campaign launched for him in February.
The campaign describes Braman’s condition as “very rare” but does not specify the exact type of cancer he has. It does detail, however, that he will need to undergo an extensive 12-week treatment program in Washington.
Braman’s agent, Sean Stellat, emphasized that the 38-year-old is “in the battle for his life,” expressing hope for his recovery. “Brian has always embodied strength, resilience, and leadership,’ Stellat remarked. “In this fight against cancer, those qualities shine through even more.” He added that Braman is considered family to him.
Meanwhile, a recent fundraising update indicated that Braman has started receiving “Car-T cell reprogramming treatment.” Initially, this treatment seemed promising, but organizers have pointed out that the cancer is now advancing rapidly, spreading around vital organs.
Braman has spent a significant portion of his seven-year career with the Eagles. After being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Houston Texans in 2011, he played three seasons there before joining the Eagles in 2014. He made a notable return to the team just before the 2017 playoffs, contributing with one tackle in their Super Bowl win.
So far, his fundraiser has raised over $70,000, reflecting the support of many who hope for his recovery.
